Tic Tac Toe

The Tic-Tac-Toe game is a fairly easy game. The Tic-Tac-Toe game is played in a 3x3 grid box and you can use an 'O' symbol or an 'X' symbol. Both players cannot use the same symbol. One will take the 'X' symbol and the other will take the 'O' symbol. The player who starts first usually has a slightly greater advantage than the second player, but the second player is still very able to win. That statement aligns with the statement in the book "How to Never Lose at Tic-Tac-Toe" by Thomas Bolon in 2013 that Tic Tac Toe is a very interesting and simple game.

The goal of the game is to get 3 of your X or O in one line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal), and that's why it's called tic-tac-toe, tic, tac, and the toe represents each of your Xs or O's in a row.

How to play tic tac toe is very easy. In this game you just have to invite one of your friends to play with you. You can choose to use the 'O' symbol or 'X' symbol and decide among themselves who will play first. Try to write down the symbol you choose in a line, while your opponent does the same. You can also block your opponent from writing down their symbol in one line. There is no time in this game, so you can use as much time as you need.

Tic-Tac-Toe game is a 2 players game, one with a symbol cross (✗) and other one with a symbol circle (◯), take turns playing their own symbols on the 3x3 box, and the first to line up vertical, horizontal, or diagonal lines is the winner.

If both players play accurately, all the boxes on the board will be filled and the game will be a tie.

This paper-and-pencil game is actually largely controlled by the player who moves first, the first player is the attacker, and the second is the defender.

Both player must only place their symbols once per turn and it must not be on already played box. In case the player cheats, the winner will be the other. A straight or diagonal line must be achieved per symbol. There is no time limit.

The game starts with artificial intelligence (AI) by default but you can also play it with your friends or relatives. All you have to do is set the human in the drop down of the second player and then you can enjoy this game with your friends.

The simple variation of the game is often used as teaching example of game theory and games tree searches. Tic-Tac-Toe game has 765 possible positions, 26,830 games. If symmetrical positions are considered different, there are 255,168 positions.

Because of the simple structure of this game, it became a good topic for artificial intelligence in the early days. Students must summarize the winning ways of the game from the existing gameplay, and deduce the strategy into a program, allowing the computer to play against the user.
