Game Intro
Nine-ball is one of the fastest and most popular pool games, rewarding precision, smart positioning, and careful shot planning. Unlike traditional eight-ball, every shot must begin by striking the lowest-numbered ball still on the table. That simple rule creates a game where strategy matters just as much as shot accuracy.
Your goal is to legally pocket the 9-ball to win the rack. Since the 9-ball can be sunk through legal combination shots, every turn offers a chance to finish the game early if you can line up the right angle. Whether you're practicing your cue skills or challenging the computer, every match feels different as the table changes with each shot.
How to Play
At the start of each rack, the balls numbered 1 through 9 are arranged in a diamond formation. After the break, every shot must make contact with the lowest-numbered ball remaining on the table before anything else.
If you legally pocket one or more balls without committing a foul, your turn continues. This allows skilled players to clear several shots in a row by controlling both the cue ball and the object balls.
A foul occurs if you fail to hit the correct ball first, scratch the cue ball, or break another rule. When this happens, your opponent receives ball-in-hand and may place the cue ball anywhere on the table before taking the next shot.
The rack ends as soon as the 9-ball is legally pocketed. It doesn't have to be the last remaining ball, so well-planned combination shots can secure an early victory. Learning when to play safely and when to attack is an important part of becoming consistent at Nine-ball.
You can choose to practice your shots without pressure or play against the computer to improve your positioning, aiming, and cue ball control.

Tips for Better Play
Success in Nine-ball isn't just about making difficult shots. Keeping the cue ball in a good position after every hit is often the difference between winning and giving your opponent an easy table.
Practice using spin to control where the cue ball finishes, and don't overlook combination shots when the 9-ball is available. As your confidence grows, you'll start seeing more creative ways to finish racks quickly while avoiding unnecessary risks.
