Solitaire Klondike - Play Online Free Card Game

Solitaire Klondike is the timeless single-player card game where strategy and patience go hand in hand. Build each suit from Ace to King, reveal hidden cards, and clear the tableau in this free online classic.

Solitaire Klondike - Game Intro

Solitaire Klondike is the classic single-player card game that has entertained generations of players. Whether you remember it from older desktop computers or you're discovering it for the first time, its simple rules and strategic gameplay make it easy to pick up but surprisingly difficult to master.

Every game starts with a shuffled deck, giving you a fresh challenge each time. Some deals can be solved with careful planning, while others require you to think several moves ahead and make the most of every card you uncover. That balance between luck and strategy is what keeps players coming back.

Unlike faster-paced card games, Klondike rewards patience and smart decision-making. Taking a moment to plan your next move often makes the difference between clearing the board and getting stuck halfway through.

Game Name:

Klondike is the most widely recognized version of Solitaire in the United States and Canada. In fact, when people simply say "Solitaire," they are almost always referring to Klondike. In the United Kingdom, the same game is more commonly called "Patience," while in many other parts of the world it is known as "American Patience."

Over the years, Klondike has inspired a variety of related games, including Batsford, Easthaven, King Albert, Thumb and Pouch, Somerset (or Usk), Whitehead, and the American variants Agnes and Westcliff. Although each version introduces its own unique rules and twists, they all share the signature triangular tableau layout, where cards are built upward by suit and arranged downward in alternating order within the tableau.

How to Play

Your objective is to move all 52 cards to the four foundation piles, arranging each suit from Ace through King.

The game begins with seven tableau columns. Only the top card in each column is face up, while the remaining cards stay hidden until uncovered. As you reveal more cards, you'll create new opportunities to organize the tableau and build your foundations.

Cards in the tableau must be placed in descending order while alternating colors. For example, a black 8 can be placed on a red 9, and a red Queen can be placed on a black King.

Empty tableau columns are valuable because they can only be filled with a King or a sequence beginning with a King. Managing these empty spaces wisely often opens up new moves that would otherwise be impossible.

If no more moves are available, draw additional cards from the stock pile. Continue revealing cards, rearranging the tableau, and building the foundations until every card has been placed in the correct suit order.
