Play Online Free Strategy Board Game

Wall Go is a tactical board game where every move changes the shape of the battlefield. Inspired by the strategic challenges seen in Devil's Plan 2, the game combines simple movement rules with territory control, forcing players to think several turns ahead.

Each turn gives you two decisions: reposition one of your stones and place a new wall. Those walls slowly divide the board into smaller sections, creating safe zones for your own pieces while cutting off your opponent's plans. A single wall placed at the right moment can completely change the outcome of the match.

Whether you're playing against the AI or challenging a friend, every game unfolds differently, rewarding careful planning instead of luck.

Wall Go focuses on clean gameplay without unnecessary distractions, making it easy to learn while offering plenty of strategic depth.

How to Play

Every match begins with a placement phase before moving into the main strategy game.

Placement Phase

Players take turns placing their stones onto the board.

For two-player games, the first four starting positions are predetermined, while the remaining stones are placed in alternating order. In three or four-player matches, each participant places two stones one at a time until everyone is ready.

Once all pieces are on the board, the action phase begins.

Gameplay

On your turn, select one of your available stones.

You may:

  • Stay in place
  • Move one square
  • Move up to two squares

Movement is limited to horizontal and vertical directions. Stones cannot move through walls or occupied spaces, so positioning becomes increasingly important as the board fills up.

After moving, you must place a wall on one open side of the stone's current position. Every wall permanently changes the layout of the board, creating new opportunities while closing off existing paths.

In two-player mode, walls remain for the entire game, making each placement a long-term commitment.

Controls

The game is designed with straightforward controls that work equally well on computers, tablets, and phones.

  • Click or tap a stone to select it
  • Choose a valid destination within two spaces
  • Select an available edge to build a wall
  • Use Undo to reverse your previous move
  • Use Redo to restore an undone action
  • Restart the match from the end screen
  • Switch between light and dark themes using the theme button
  • Change languages directly from the main menu

Game Rules

Objective

Your goal is to create the largest territory containing only your own stones.

As walls divide the board, enclosed regions begin to form. Once every player's stones are isolated inside separate territories, the match ends and scoring begins.

Movement Rules

  • Move zero, one, or two spaces each turn
  • Movement is only allowed up, down, left, or right
  • Stones cannot pass through walls
  • Stones cannot move through or onto another stone

Wall Rules

  • Every turn ends with placing one wall
  • The outer border of the board already counts as a wall
  • In two-player mode, walls cannot be removed after placement

Turn Timer

Each player has 90 seconds to complete a turn.

If time expires before a wall is placed, the game automatically adds a random valid wall and passes the turn to the next player.

Scoring & Victory

Every square inside a completed territory is worth one point.

The player with the highest total score wins the match.

If two players finish with the same score, the winner is determined by comparing the size of their largest individual territory. If that value is also identical, the game ends in a draw.

Because of this scoring system, controlling one large area can sometimes be more valuable than creating several smaller regions.

Strategy Tips

Success in Wall Go comes from balancing movement and construction.

Instead of building walls as quickly as possible, watch how your opponent is expanding and try to limit their future options. Leaving multiple paths open may seem harmless early on, but those spaces can become valuable territory later in the game.

If you're learning the mechanics, start with AI mode to experiment with different opening strategies and make use of the Undo feature to understand how alternative moves affect the board.

Every match rewards patience, planning, and the ability to anticipate several turns ahead.
