Word Worm is a simple but surprisingly tense word-building game that turns vocabulary into a race against time. You guide a little worm forward by clearing letters in its path, forming valid English words as you go. At first it feels relaxed, but once the screen starts creeping upward, you’ll quickly realize this isn’t just a spelling game—it’s about speed, decision-making, and spotting words under pressure.
With a large in-game dictionary (around 84,000 words), the game rewards both quick thinking and a strong vocabulary. Longer words don’t just score better—they buy you precious time, which can make all the difference in later levels.
How to Play
The goal is to help the worm reach the finish line by clearing letters in front of it. You do this by selecting letters to form words with at least three characters. Once a valid word is submitted, those letters disappear, creating space for the worm to move forward.
The challenge comes from the constantly scrolling screen. It slowly pushes the play area upward, forcing you to keep forming words or risk losing control. If you manage to create longer words, the screen scroll will slightly reverse, giving you a brief breather.
You complete a level by either reaching the end or safely guiding the worm off the bottom of the screen. However, if the worm gets pushed off the top, the run ends immediately.

- Left Click or Z key: Select or deselect a letter
- Right Click or X key: Remove the last selected letter
- Click on the formed word: Submit your word
