Naturally, the promise of treasure is all the motivation Wario needs. He sets off across the world inside the music box, searching for hidden treasures and the missing music boxes.
As the story unfolds, things are not quite what they seem. After gathering all five music boxes, Wario returns to free the imprisoned figure, only to discover that the being is actually Rudy the Clown, the true villain. The creatures Wario fought throughout the game were not evil at all—they were trying to prevent Rudy's release. Wario must then defeat Rudy and restore peace to the music box world before finally returning home with his hard-earned treasure.
